Bonus Chapter 1: Lost Existence

****Evening, February 24th, 2014****

"Why do I exist..."


Tanmamon hopped down the hall to Tanire's room, looking in. "Aunt Tane?" she squeaked. "You in here?"

Tanire came up to Tanmamon and scooped her up. "Well hi there! What's up?"

"I finally learned how to do it!" Tanmamon said. She pushed off to a weak spin and changed into a human child, appearing to be about 6 years old, with black, curly hair down to her shoulders and wearing a red dress with dress shoes. She looked up at Tanire. "Ta-da!"

Tanire reached down and scooped the child up. "That's great! What should I call you now?"

"I get a name?"

"Of course! Want me to help?"

"Yes yes!"

"Searching database for suitable name..." Tanire said, staring off for a few seconds. "Howdo you like 'Kaori'?"

"Yay! That's my new name!" Kaori squealed.


"...is it to learn?"


"Now you know she's not too picky." Drandi said, walking up to Tanire and Kaori with a young boy following close behind.

"Looky looky!" Kaori said, looking up at Drandi.

The little boy walked over to Kaori and took her hand. "Now you're my size!"

Drandi leaned over and put her arms around Tanire. "Now why don't you and Darius go play?"

"Yaaaaay!" Kaori squealed, glomping Darius.

Darius grinned mischievously. "Dad just got home, let's go trick him with your new form."

Kaori let go of Darius and started following him down the hall. Drandi noticed. "Wow, she learned to walk pretty quickly."

Darius ran downstairs to the den, with Kaori wobbling not far behind. Hiolyin, Darius' father, was setting on the couch typing on a digital notebook. A toddler near an electronics booth grabbed a unit of cybernetic headgear and stuck it on her head. "I wanna be a robot like Mommy!"

Hiolyin took the helmet off his daughter's head. "You saw your mother recharging already?" he said, as Kaori caught his eye.

Kaori looked at Hiolyin with a smile, which soon turned to a clinch, as her face turned red. She then suddenly poofed back to Digimon form. She looked up at Hiolyin and grinned.

****Afternoon, April 6th, 2016****

"Why do I exist..."


Kaori stopped walking midway through the hall, hearing a conversation in a nearby room. She slightly cracked the door to Hiolyin's study and peeked in.

"You're sure it's there?" Hiolyin asked. "Did you ask Drandi?"

"Yes father, I'm positive." a girl responded from inside the same room. "Shall I get it for you?"

"Yes please." Hiolyin said.

Kaori moved away from the door as the girl opened it, walking out into the hallway. Kori approached the girl. "Melimei?"

The girl turned around. "Yes?"

"Can I come too?"

Melimei nodded. and turned back around, walking down the hall. Kaori scurried not too far behind.

"So where are we going?" Kaori asked curiously.

"If I understood, it's the laboratory where you were created."

"I don't remember..."

"Only Drandi and Tanire ever goes down there any more." Melimei explained. "I think that's where Tanire's maintainence is performed."

"Wooow..." Kaori said, now skipping alongside Melimei.


"...is it to explore?"


Melimei turned down an allyway and continued walking. Kaori poked Melimei's arm. "Why is it so far from home?"

Melimei stopped at a gap in the wall and shuffled through it. Kaori followed suit.

After walking down what seemed to be a maze of hallways, the girls finally got to a pair of sliding doors, which opened up to let the girls in. Melimei walked in and went straight for a cabinet, while Kaori walked in and looked around in amazement at all of the computer consoles and pretty lights. Kaori approached what looked like two beds made of metal.

"Are you here Drandi?" Melimei yelled.

Kaori looked over at a desk, then above to a group of plaques displaying pictures of people.

"They're former Captains of the Technological Division." a voice said. Drandi came out of the back room and looked over at Kaori. "Ukara Aesarn, Riavin Uliase, Cherkin Tral, and me."

"Wooow..." Kaori said, looking interested at everything she could see. She then started opening drawers to the desk, looking everything over.

"What're you kids doing down here?" Drandi asked. "Tanire and I come down here for privacy."

Melimei stood straight and looked directly at Drandi. "Pardon us, but... you told me that the notepad that contains Hiolyin's notes for his holoprojector's new user interface was down here... are you finished with it?"

Kaori pulled out a digital notebook from one of the drawers she was looking in. "Is this it?" she asked Drandi, handing it to her.

Drandi too the notepad and handed it to Melimei. "Yes it is, thank you little one. You're getting smart."

Melimei took the notepad and bowed to Drandi. "Thank you ma'am." she said.

****Noon, August 1st, 2018****

"Why do I exist..."

Kaori sat on the roof of the Verdier estate as the earthquakes continued. "They're getting closer..." she thought.

Drandi peeked out a nearby window. "Kaori hun, we need to go now. We already packed up down here."

Kaori nodded, looking down at Drandi. "Okay, coming."

Kaori stood up and scurried across the roof to the back and jumped down. She quickly walked toward the shed. She looked over at it, seeing a shadow of a small roundish figure with arms and legs. "...who's there?" she said softly.

A bright flash of light emitted from the shadowy figure, causing Kaori to blank out, collapsing on the ground.

Kaori awoke slowly, then before opening her eyes, tried to get up. Her body couldn't move an inch as she tried to move. She opened her eyes. A black-haired girl wearing a dark uniform-looking suit stood in front of her. "Who are you?" the girl asked.

Next to the girl floated a small crystalline Digimon with bright orange eyes. "She looks a lot like like Jamie." it said with an echoing, machinelike voice.

"W... why am I..." Kaori stuttered, confused about the situation. She looked around at the dark room, lit slightly only by the dark night sky coming in from a large window on Kairi's right.

"You're a Digimon that has taken a human form." the girl said. "Not only that, but you have human DNA. You're the only one of your kind on this entire space station. Where did you come from?"

"Space station...?" Kaori asked.

The girl looked over at the crystalline Digimon. "Cherimon, where exactly did you find her?" she asked.

"East Kienu." Cherimon replied. "A few refugees tried to escape. After I captured her, I terminated them."

Kaori's eyes widened, looking over at the emotionless Cherimon. "You mean... my family..."

"Tch! Digimon don't have families." the girl snapped.

"...I beg to differ, Pepita." another voice echoed from outside. The silhouette of Saidramon appeared outside the window, touching the window glass. The glass burned away as he floated in, then landed on the floor.. "Then again, your organization treats Digimon and humans like your property, even your family. You're no different than the disgusting Lerkurlians you're slaughtering. I don't expect you to understand."

Pepita scowled at Sai. "How did you find us?"

Sai walked over to Kaori, looking up at her. "Show me your Digimon form. Please." he asked.

"What do you think you're doing?" Pepita growled.

Kaori bust out of the chamber with a powerful glow, emerging as Barricademon. She looked at Cherimon, then suddenly struck it with a powerful punch, instantly deleting it, then turned to Pepita.

"Ahahahaha!!!" Saidramon laughed evilly. "You bit off more than you could chew with this one!"

Pepita coweringly ran out the door. Sai turned to Barricademon as she watched the girl leave.

"You must leave now." Sai explained to Barricademon. "Please, follow me."

Barricademon looked down at Sai, then nodded.

"...is it to run?"

Saidramon morphed into his larger form, flying as fast as he could away from the building with Barricademon on his back. A strange noise came from the distant sky. Barricademon looked back, noticing a swarm of Darkdramon soldiers approaching.

"They were following me." Sai said. "I can't deal with them till I get you to safety though. This time they won't think about capturing you."

I'm not sure who you are..." Barricademon said. "...but thanks."

Saidramon sped over to another cluster of cities, then dove down to one. "You'll be relatively safe here." he said, landing on the ground in the middle of a large cluster of buildings. "I have Sentinelmon patrolling this area. They'll attack anyone but me when I'm not around, so please, try to hide."

Barricademon nodded again, hopping off of Sai's back. She turned back into human form. "Thanks again."

Sai looked back at her. "You really do look like Jamie..." he commented, then took off toward the Darkdramon swarm as Kaori watched.

Kaori ran to an alleyway, looking around. She suddenly heard a loud noise filling the area, as if the sky swallowed itself.

****Early Night, June 17th, 2020****

"Why do I exist..."

Kaori continued walking down the endless underground passageways, looking for any other signs of life. "It's no use..." she cried. "It's like everyone else on the whole planet is gone. No one on the surface that wasn't killed by those Sentinelmon, no one down here that has taken refuge from the chaos..."

She looked around to see if she recognized any corridors. She sighed, sitting down near an intersection. "It's no use. I've looked everywhere for months. Still no one in sight..."

She then heard the screams of Sentinelmon up above, as if they've found another target to destroy. "I guess there's no use trying to say hi to whoever that is." she said pessimistically, sighing again. "Oh well, beter than nothing..."

Kaori climbed up a nearby ladder, entering into the bottom floor of a room in a random building. She walked over to the tinted windows, looking out and trying to spot the victim before the Sentinelmon vaporized it. Suddenly, a door slammed open from the outside. In the room Kaori was in ran a human boy around 12 years old in scruffy blue jeans and a shiry with glasses. He slammed the door quickly, breathing heavily.

Kaori looked over at him. "You survived!" she said quickly.

The boy jumped back, startled. "GAH! Don't do that! I thought you were one of them!"

"Sorry, I haven't seen another human in..." Kaori stopped. She looked closer at the boy, recognizing him. "...Darius? Is that you?"

He looked over at Kaori, shocked. "Kaori?!"

Kaori heard a noise outside. "C'mon, we gotta go back underground." she said, starting to walk toward the ladder.

Darius ran over to Kaori and threw his arms around her. "I'm glad you survived." he said softly. "I missed you so much..."

"...is it for love?"

Kaori smiled. "Yeah, me too."

The eye of a Sentinelmon peered into the window, spotting the two kids. Kaori looked back. "We have to hurry."

The kida scurried down the ladder to the underground passageways. "We should be safe here." Kaori said. "But I'm not sure where to go from here though..."

"I have a place not too far from here." Darius said. "It's not too big, but it's better than wandering around endlessly."

The kids walked down several passageways, coming to a double-door. Darius put his finger to the doorknob, opening the door. He walked in and turned around to Kaori. Kaori walked in and looked around. There was a few boxes in the left corner, a desk near the middle of the room, and a large table in the right corner with another, smaller doorway nearby. "There's a bed in the back and a food dispender on the table, so it's not all bad here.

Kaori fell to the floor on her knees. "I guess I can finally rest now. You have a nice place here."

"Go ahead and lay down." Darius suggested. "You need it."

"It's okay." Kaori said. "It's just a lot better having someone to talk to."

Darius helped Kaori to her feet, then gave her a hug. "I can't begin to tell you how much I've missed you..."

****Late Morning, November 10th, 2022****

"Why do I exist..."

Barricademon ran through to the enemy stronghold, with Keramon slithering behind. "What are you hiding here?" Barricademon asked.

Keramon cackled. "I shall show you when I catch up to you..."

Barricademon turned around and erected a turquoise force field in the corridor. Keramon approached the other side. Barricademon looked down at Keramon, then turned around and ran off.

Barricademon ran down a hallway in the dead center of the massive complex. She approached another corridor, this one looked to be leading to the outside. Two Commandramon stepped in the way and aimed their rifles at her. She quickly dispatched them with bursts of light from her gauntlets.

She exited the hallway, now in a small grassy field with a small house in the middle below a morning sky. Barricademon turned into human form, approaching the house.

Kaori walked in the house, looking around. She heard a girl humming in the other room. She cautiously walked in.

Keramon finally entered the field, grinning. "This is as far as you go."

"...is it for family?"

Kaori looked down at the girl, who looked to be around Kaori's age, and was at a table quietly drinking what looked to be tea from a cup. "I'm Kaori. What's your name?"

"I'm Feye." the girl said. "I've heard a lot about you."

"What are you doing here?" Kaori asked. "Are you one of them? Are you a prisoner here?"

"What are you talking about?" Feye asked.

"You've never even left this house before, have you?" Kaori asked.

Feye looked up at Kaori. "I'd like to, but Father don't let me.

"You father is here?!?" Kaori said. She then noticed someone, possibly human, out the window in the field out of the corner of her eye, as well as Keramon. She couldn't make out who it was, but Keramon was approaching him.

Feye quickly noticed as well. "Ah, there's Father now."

Keramon hopped on the human as a dark aura swollowed them both. The aura grew immensely, engulfing the entire field.

Kaori grabbed Feye's hand. "We need to get you out of here. Now."

The Aura faded, revealing Armageddemon standing over the house, his shadow darkening the sky.

Kaori ran out of the house with Feye, then turned back into Barricademon. She picked Feye up and ran toward the corridor she entered from.

Armageddemon turned around as his footsteps earthquaked the whole facility. Barricademon ran into the corridor as Armageddemon looked on...
