I'm going to make sprites tonight for FD.
I know I'm insanely behind and probably should be fired(except no one else sprites...besides Kyle who is still missing..)
Therefore, this 'return to active spriting' needs to be organized.
For new members new to this process, I base the sprite off of what info is in your profile, unless you request otherwise. If you need help, ask me or one of the older members(even if they don't sprite themselves, they've been through the 'request' process.
I know there's about two primary reasons why I hadn't sprited for a while, both technically because we are in FD and not DF anymore.
-It's not becuase I can't sprite, since I've been making sprites for my KH campaign, although in that they're used as minitures for D&D, so they serve a practical purpose there.
-One reason is that there isn't much to use the sprites for. In HG and DF, sprites were used in the banners and sigs. However, all the banners and sigs are spiffized or realistic pictures((except for the HG and DFcolor themes, of course)). I need to figure out some sort of 'practical' use for the sprites, so that they are 'needed' for the RPG, rather than just an inaccurate art form.((Note to new members-sprites aren't perfect, they're tiny, and don't have all details you'd want.))
-The other reason is more due to the plot of everything. We're in Lerkurlia, and they have uniforms. The uniforms are sort of customized to what the person wants, but it's still a color theme and stuff. When originally planned, most people supported the idea of using black as the primary color of the uniform. I personally don't like black, espeically with spriting. With normal colors, you can get more realistic shades and tints with colors becuase there's such a big range. With black, the range in drastically cut off since if it gets too light, it's now gray and not black, so then everything in black sprites looks like a black blob.
So, when thinking about making hundreds of black sprited clones, I think that caused part of the anti-spriting mental wall. Even when the clothing was rediscussed and later I decided to sprite regardless of uniforms and stuff, I think the wall was still there. Plus the whole 'custom' aspect of the uniform would require everyone to talk to me about exactly how they wanted their black blob, I mean sprite. Yeah.
ANyway, now I'm going to sprite, regardless of FD purpose or black blobness. So, please talk to me or post in this thread or even a new one or somehting, so we can get sprites back in the game.
((And a random thought as I wrote this-lerkurlia has custom uniforms. Um...it seems Savers does too. ANOTHER time of them yoinking our thoughts?))

- New FD members get sprites first, since they never had any anyway and I'd be surprised if they know what I mean by a sprite.
- Then I'll do old members' new characters, like Lerkurlians. However, those will be more on a character-importance/activeness basis, unless requested otherwise.
- Once all those are done, or at least all the semi-active ones((I'm not spriting never-RPed Lerkurlians for now)), then I'll do the DF characters, and that will be on a 'how much is this needed/outfit change' basis.
