Chapter 2: Meeting with Destiny
****Morning, Dec 13th, 2023**** Kaori opened the door to a dark room and entered quietly. She walked over to the large pile of cloth and sat down. She clicked a button on her wrist device, bringing up a holographic projection of a city map. "13 meters... 9 more units left..." she mumbled. "They're Ultimates too..." A knock on the door startled Kaori. "...is that you?" Darius creped his head through, looking down at Kaori. "If you need me or perhaps Feye to go with you..." "No, you shouldn't." Kaori said, turning off the holoprojection with another click. "You couldn't outrun them, and Feye is in no condition." Darius sighed. "I don't know how much longer we can live here. Just take my advice..." "The Digital World is worse than this, you know that..." Kaori interrupted. Darius walked in, leaving the door open. He sat down beside Kaori. "It's pointless at this point, if you're still looking for a miracle liberation or something..." Kaori closed her eyes and leaned against Darius. "I don't know, I just think that something good would've happened ever since we found Feye..." "Well you probably should get this over with then. I'll be monitoring you from my lab this time." "Yeah, sorry." Kaori apologized, lifting her head and standing up. "I'll make it back in one piece." Kaori started walking out the door. Darius grabbed her arm, stopping her. She looked back at him. "You never know, something good might happen this time." he said, smiling and letting go of Kaori's arm. Kaori nodded and grinned, then ran out the door.

Looking around the passageway finally leading to a dead end, Kaori spots a few rusty cabinets in one corner. She approached them cautiously. "Wow, they're still blocking it after all these years..." she whispered to herself, inspecting the cabinets.
She then grabbed one pulled it as hard as she could, barely budging it. She got it almost a meter from the other two, then weakly pushed the middle one away, revealing a narrow gap in the corner. She took a minute, catching her breath, then peered through the gap. Looking around to the old ghetto-style alleyway on the other side, she heard nothing but the wind.
"Coast is clear..." she said, squeezing through the gap. She easily got her upper torso through, but got stuck halfway. "Oh jeeze, I was able to squeeze my stupid butt through easily last time..." she cried embarrassingly, slowly pulling her bottom out from the narrow opening.
She finally pulled the rest of the way out and sighed, then tiptoed down the alley. She then clicked her wrist device again, bringing up the same map. She quickly examined it, then looked to the opposite end of the alley. "Closest one is on the other end... I guess I'm going the right way."
She ran down three uninhabited streets before finally approaching a large building. She ran in the back and referred to the map again. "Dammit, one's coming this way..." she said out loud, panicing. She peeked out seeing the street she came from, trying quickly to visually measure how far it was.
She then ran to it and turned the corner. There stood a 20-foot tall robotic Digimon armed to the teeth. The millisecond Kaori turned the corner, it's bright red lights lit up as it began bellowing a loud bullhorn-like sound. Kaori ran back the way she came, down the alley by the side of the big building and into an open doorway.
The robot floated to the entrance to the alley. "Attention all Sentinelmon in the area. Human spotted in Iliana 14th district."
The robot then floated to the doorway Kaori entered and tried to persue. It was stopped by a bright turquoise forcefield, covering the doorway. It looked up, then took off, flying up to find another entrance.

Inside the building, Kaori walked up to a door that opened electronically, letting Kaori in. She pointed her wrist device at the horde of crates around the room, then clicked another button. The device sent out a beam, enveloping the crates. Kaori let go of the button, causing the beam to dissipate , taking the crates with it. "There, that's all of them in this room. This should last us for a few more years, at least till..."
Kaori froze in place that moment, feeling like she was being watched. "W... who's there?" she nervously said, slowly turning around.
There stood what resembles a very young girl, about 5 or 6, wearing a black and white dress with long, black hair. Kaori surprisingly wasn't startled by her. "You..." Kaori whispered.
Then Kaori noticed red lights shining in from the window. She turned around, seeing a Sentinelmon floating in front of the window. "Target spotted." it announced.
Kaori turned back around. The little girl was gone. Kaori Hesitated for a second, then ran out the doorway and down the hall.
Outside, 4 other Sentinelmon floated up to the one looking in. "Target identified."
"...wait." a non-mechanical voice ordered. "She's the one, correct?"
"Affermative." the lead Sentinelmon said, as Saidramon landed on the building adjacent to the bigger one.
"Then Yegiri must have already got to her." Saidramon said. "Power your weapons down, let me take it from here."
The 5 present Sentinelmon powered down and floated away...

Walking unsteadily down a hallway, Kaori was breathing heavy while trying to listen carefully around her. "Okay, normal Sentinelmon behavior, but the girl..."
"...yes?" the girl said, from behind Kaori.
"Darius, you better still be monitoring this..." Kaori said, quickly turning around, encountering the girl again. "What are you doing here?" she asked the girl. "What's your name? Where's your family?"
"Calm down, Kaori..." the little girl said.
"...how do you know my name...?" Kaori cautiously asked.
"Because..." the girl stated. "...you are needed."
"I don't understand..." Kaori said.
The girl reached her hand to Kaori. "I am Yegiri Iliora, it's a pleasure to finally meet you."
"Yegiri...?" Kaori asked, confused. "Feye mentioned that name a couple times, but..."
"I wish there was time to explain, but you must come to me." Yegiri said, pointing her finger down the hallway.
Kaori looked where Yegiri was pointing. Suddenly, a bright light came from Yegiri's fingertip, forming a dimensional portal. Yegiri looked back at Kaori. Please, come.

Yegiri and Kaori arrived in a field in the Digital World. Yegiri started walking toward the middle of the field. "This is where the tower once stood..."
Kaori cautiously followed Yegiri, looking around. "This island... it's abandoned?"
"This... was Runemon's island." Yegiri said, looking at the grassy mound that grew over the ruins.
Kaori looked at Yegiri in shock. "Runemon? You mean Feye's mother?"
"Yes and no. Runemon yes, but not Feye's mother."
"I'm confused..."
"You needn't worry about that now. We need to find..."
Suddenly, the ground under the girls started trembling, as the sky darkened.
"One of the seven is here..." Yegiri said, grabbing Kaori's arm. "We must hurry inside."
"Too late." a feminine, yet evil-sounding voice roared around them. "This world belongs to me now."
Kaori turned around, and was immediately grabbed by Lillithmon, who pulled her close.
"Let her go, Lust." Yegiri said, immediately responding to the succubus. "She's not the one you're after."
Lillithmon looked embraced Kaori, looking her over head to toe, then leaned in toward the cowering girl. "You're pretty sexy..." she whispered seductively.
Yegiri grabbed Lillithmon's arm, making it burst into white flames. The demon jumped back, dropping Kaori and holding her burning forearm. "How dare you..." she hissed.
Kaori collapsed on her knees, gasping for breath. Yegiri rushed over to her. Kaori looked up at Lillithmon and scowled. "You were leading me into that place, right?" Kaori asked Yegiri. "To that mound?"
Yegiri nodded, as Lillithmon was hastily putting the flames out.
"Then go... I'll be right behind you." Kaori ordered.
Yegiri ran to the entrance to the catacombs which were still wide open. She scurried down the stairs.
Lillithmon turned to Kaori and grinned. "She left me that tasty little meal after all, I see..."
Kaori then became enveloped in bright light, changing her into an obscure Digimon form, which lept to the entrance and jumped in. Lillithmon tried to reach in, but was blocked by a bright turquoise forcefield. Lillithmon looked around at the ground, which was radiating by the same turquoise-colored energy field as the entrance's barricade. "You little wench... I'LL GET YOU!!!"
