Me and Uncle Alan were discussing theories on how HP book 7 might end, and Uncle Alan was saying that 'good' has to win. Not necessarily live, but at least win. IF not, then people won't read it.
Maybe this is true for movies, but I'm not sure for actual books. I'd think it depends more on what the author wants. Sure, maybe good wins if every major person dies, based on the rules of that universe, but can the author deal with that?
It took me forever to write Ch of the Jasmine Story. At the time, Lunamon using herself to create the shield for LT was really her dying. I managed to write it. Twice, technically since the aol reset itself as i was trying to post it...
Similarly, when LT got sploded. I wasn't even the one to post that(Wedge did), but I still regretted it happening, and made my charcoal drawing. However, it was needed, and it was done, and I'll have to do it again when I write the DF book.
Therefore I wonder about more 'out of the box' concepts for books and stuff. I have one book planned of short stories, which are set up to go against usual cliche's. (light is evil and dark is good, boy being forced to pretend to be a girl, skewed effects of parallelism, and other stuff that I haven't even planned yet).OR, does all of that not matter as long as good wins and evil loses?
(In this story's case, I'm not sure, since there's two stories going on. One is Rehini and Myde in the light/dark stuff, with their Uncle Leyan trying to fix the balance and stop all the fighting. However, in Cira and Sarah's parallel worlds, he's seen as the bad guy since he's trying to control the 'Pillars of Light', since they keep balance and are good.)
What do you guys think on all this?
